Colleen Kirby
Ms. Kirby earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware, where she majored in Criminal Justice and participated in the Honors Program. She later attended the University of Baltimore School of Law where she concentrated on litigation and advocacy. Graduating with honors and winning an award for academic excellence, she earned her JD while ranking in the top 20% of her class. After participating in the University’s Clinical Program, she became licensed to practice law, serving as a public defender in Baltimore City.
Following law school, Ms. Kirby served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph F. Murphy, Jr. When she began her clerkship, Judge Murphy was the Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. During the course of her clerkship, Judge Murphy was appointed to the Maryland Court of Appeals, where Ms. Kirby completed the term of her clerkship.
Before entering private practice, Ms. Kirby spent over two years working as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Howard County. She became a skilled trial lawyer by handling a variety of criminal and traffic cases for the State of Maryland. In November of 2008, Ms. Kirby successfully completed the Trial Advocacy Program sponsored by the Maryland State’s Attorneys Association.
Ms. Kirby is licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Howard County Bar Association.
As a Maryland Criminal Defense Attorney, Colleen Kirby serves Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Harford County, and Prince George’s County.
